iPad Air 2019 vs. iPad Pro 11

Is it worth paying more than 300 euros for the 11-inch iPad Pro instead of the new iPad Air 2019?  You can find out from my tablet comparison.  With iPad Air 3 (2019), Apple has released a very exciting tablet, which in many respects is very close to the 11-inch iPad Pro.  There are some important differences, but does this justify the price difference of over 300 euros?  549 and 879 euros.  That's exactly what I explained in my comparison between iPad Air and iPad Pro.

Design: Old vs. New

We start by designing two tablets and there are already significant differences.  Especially the front of the iPad Pro looks more modern.  The frames around the display are thinner and even.  However, in the case of iPad Air, Apple is still based on the classic design of the iPad, known from the first iPad.  Top and bottom are thick frames.  They both have a metal casing and both are very high quality.  But there are subtle differences.  The iPad Pro has sharp edged edges.  They are complemented on iPad Air.  Strictly speaking, Pro is thinner by 0.2 mm - but this is not noticeable.

It is striking, however, that we must live with iPad Air with the old Lightning connection.  Pro has a USB C port, through which you can also connect a lot of USB C accessories. It is important, however, to know that Air has a normal headphone jack that is missing in Pro. There are slight differences on the displays.  Of course, the iPad Pro is slightly larger 11 inches than the 10.5 inch iPad Air, and the Pro corners are rounded.  It has an area of 2388 x 1668 and 2224 x 1668 pixels.  Well, both have a pixel pitch of 264ppi, so both are very sharp. Let's move to hardware and performance.  While the Apple A12 Bionic sits on iPad Air, we get the A12X chipset in Pro.  With Air you can choose between 64 GB and 256 GB, while Pro 64 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB or 1 TB are.  In addition, 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM.  Only 1 TB Pro versions have 6 GB of RAM.  Both are available in LTE. Okay, let's get to the accessories.  You can get a pen case and a keyboard for both tablets.  However, both are incompatible with each other.  It is a pity, because we have an example of Microsoft, where the pens are compatible with generations.  The battery is stronger and more efficient in the iPad Pro.

It was my comparison with iPad Air and iPad Pro.  Which tablet is better?  The iPad Pro is more powerful, slightly thinner, has a brighter display, four speakers and USB C. In general, the iPad Pro is of course a better tablet.  But it costs just over 300 euros more.  And accessories are also more expensive.
